What piano is used in the exam?

How many months before the exam should you start?
Start when serious, consistent work on the exam programme begins. Avoid changing instruments only a few days before the exam. The right period differs for each learner, so the teacher should help assess practice hours, exam level and the suitability of the current home instrument.
Costs and conditions to confirm
- Monthly rent and the security deposit for the selected model
- Security deposits paid by cash or bank transfer earn 5% interest per year, subject to company conditions
- Bangkok upright-piano transport is THB 2,500 round trip, including one tuning, for ground-floor delivery and collection
- Stairs, other floors, restricted access or building limitations require a separate assessment; send site photographs first
- Rental-credit conditions if you later decide to purchase
Should you still practise in the actual exam room?
Yes, if possible. Trying the actual room and Grand Piano helps the candidate adjust to the atmosphere, room scale and instrument response.
Before exam-room allocations are announced, a Grand Piano room can be rented for THB 300 per hour. It may not be the actual exam room, but it still provides early familiarity with the venue.

Can the rented piano be taken to the ABRSM exam?
No. It is for home preparation. The Practical Exam uses the instrument provided by the exam centre.
Does a Grade 1 candidate need a Yamaha U1 or U3?

Can I rent a Silent Piano for a condo?
